18-year old Anastasia Anderson recently became the first Dual Credit student at Northern Lights College to complete the Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) Diploma program while still in secondary school. Dual Credit programs are becoming increasingly popular and allow secondary school students to enroll in College programming while still in school, earning credits at both levels simultaneously.
Earning a Diploma as a 15-month Dual Credit student is a significant achievement as it means completing both secondary school course requirements and both first- and second- year courses at the College level. It requires focus and dedication on both the part of the student and the instructors. This focus helps to prepare students for the responsibility undertaken by an aircraft maintenance engineer with the lives of potentially thousands of people dependent daily on their knowledge and expertise.
