College of New Caledonia Inspires Youth to Explore Watershed Health and Careers

In collaboration with the Rivershed Society of BC, Andrea Erwin from CNC’s Natural Resources & Forest Technology program led a workshop earlier this month on stream ecology and how invertebrates can be used as an indicator of stream health.

The workshop was part of the Watershed Workforce program, which connects youth (ages 15-20) with hands-on opportunities to explore watershed stewardship, learn from experts, and contribute to the health of the Fraser Watershed.

College of New Caledonia’s Natural Resources and Forest Technology diploma prepares students for careers in forestry and environmental management. The two-year program combines classroom instruction with hands-on fieldwork. Students learn about forest ecology, GIS mapping, and sustainable land use.
