NWCC Board of Governors Announces Interim President and CEO

Terrace, BC, February 12, 2014 – The Board of Governors of Northwest Community College (NWCC) today announced the appointment of Mr. Denis Caron as interim college President and CEO. Denis has previously served NWCC as Interim Dean of Trades and Workforce Training.

“We are very pleased Denis has agreed to accept this role as we search for a successor to Dr. Henning,” said Rhoda Witherly Chair of the College Board. “Denis’s vast experience in leadership roles across the country will ensure NWCC maintains its momentum as we develop new educational opportunities for our students. Denis will also allow our senior administrators to continue to serve in their critical Vice- President roles."

Denis joined NWCC in September 2012 as Interim Dean of Trades and Workforce Training until the recent hire of Mr. Brent Spiedel. Current President and CEO Dr. Denise Henning says: “Denis is a perfect fit for this interim leadership role. He will maintain our current focus and direction until a new President is found.”

“I am honoured to serve NWCC in this new capacity,” stated Caron. "NWCC is riding a veritable tsunami of opportunity. We have the team to capitalize on those opportunities to the benefit of our students and the communities we serve.”

Denis will assume his role as Acting President and CEO of NWCC on March 20, 2014.
