The role of BC Colleges is to provide education and training opportunities that respond to the workforce needs of communities and regions throughout British Columbia, while meeting the educational, social and cultural needs of students. With 11 community colleges and almost 70 campuses and learning centres throughout the province, British Columbians have access and choice to affordable, quality education close to home. BC's colleges offer a diversity of programs - from Adult Basic Education and foundation training through to career, technical, trade and applied baccalaureate programs. These programs provide relevant opportunities and pathways to employment or further education. The result? BC's colleges are the primary supplier of a well-educated, highly skilled workforce that powers the provincial economy and the economic recovery. BC's colleges are mandated to offer programs in the following categories: 1. Undergraduate degree programs in applied areas; 2. University transfer studies and associate degree programs; 3. Para-professional, career, technical and applied studies; 4. Trades and apprenticeship; and, 5. Developmental education, including programs for students with disabilities.
