Camosun College and Nova Scotia Community College Partner in Marine Education
The two colleges will work together on potential workforce development opportunities that support provincial and national marine and oceans interests, including sharing of curriculum, student learning experiences, faculty exchanges, new program development, and customized training for public/private partners.
"This agreement provides a unique opportunity to offer bi-coastal training solutions for the Canadian marine industry," says Geoff Wilmshurst, Vice President, Partnerships at Camosun. "We believe it will provide significant benefits to our industry partners and enhance the training scope and expertise each of our institutions will be able to offer."
Applied research collaborations are central to the partnership, and both colleges will work together on information exchanges, staff visits, and student work placements. International educational opportunities, such as technical projects and exchanges, are also key components of the agreement. Camosun and NSCC are currently partnered on projects in Kenya for national polytechnic development.
"By working together, we can share resources and expertise to collaborate and expose students and faculty to new and emerging technology," says Jeffrey Taylor, Associate Vice President of Research and Innovation at NSCC. "In many ways, we can link our coasts through collaboration."
