Camosun College And Waste Management Re-define Concept Of Recycling
What do you do when your massive recycling trucks with a full complement of complex lifting, tipping and compaction systems reach the end of their commercial life span? You recycle them, of course. That’s what happened last month when Waste Management Canada needed to retire two of it’s commercial load trucks. In an act of philanthropy that doubles as an investment in skilled trades training, Glen Tullock, Waste Management District Manager arranged to donate two older-model recycling trucks to Camosun’s Heavy Duty Mechanics shop.
“Donations like this are great teaching and learning investments for our Foundation and Apprenticeship students,” says Heavy Mechanical Trades program lead Bob Glover. “Modern day trucks represent a specialized integration of mechanical, electrical and technological systems. The learning potential of this gift will last for many years, as students dismantle and explore the inner workings. We are very grateful to Glen Tullock and Waste Management Canada for their generosity.” Read more.
