The College of New Caledonia and the Independent Contractors and Businesses Association are working together to help CNC graduates find work within the construction industry.
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed June 7th, 2017 for both partners to collaborate on recruitment, retention and advancement opportunities for CNC graduates. The MOU is the first of its kind between ICBA and a post-secondary institute.

“We pride ourselves on working closely with local stakeholders, and this partnership will bring tremendous benefits to our students and it is an important step toward meeting the needs of industry,” said Frank Rossi, CNC Dean of Trades and Technologies. “The partnership links CNC’s students transitioning into the industry in a seamless manner, and will help secure employment for our students to continue with their chosen trade.”

“This is a great opportunity to help our employers connect with the next generation of trades workers, all with the goal of educating, empowering and employing young people,” said Dr. Lindsay Langill, ICBA Vice-President. “For nearly 50 years, CNC has been a force in provincial trades training. Their graduates have helped build British Columbia, and we’re proud to help the College continue that tradition.”

ICBA represents more than 2,000 members and clients in construction and responsible resource development, is one of the leading third-party providers of group health and retirement benefits in B.C., trains more than 3,500 workers every year, and is the single largest sponsor of apprentices in the province.

The College of New Caledonia is the largest technical training institution in Northern BC,
offering diverse training in up to seventeen different trades programs servicing 1,600 students
per year.
