College of New Caledonia Skills Competition Winner Takes Gold at Nationals

Avery Bell, winner of the cabinetmaking event at CNC’s Regional Skills Competition was awarded the Gold medal in the Secondary level of the National championships in Winnipeg, MB May 31st to June 3rd. Last year he was awarded third place at the National competition.

Bell, who graduates this year from Correlieu Secondary School in Quesnel, won the regional cabinetmaking competition held at the College of New Caledonia in January, and went on to place first in the Provincial Skills Competition in Abbotsford in April.

“Congratulations once again to Avery for his hard work,” said Frank Rossi, CNC Dean of the school of Trades and Technologies. “We are proud to have supported him in achieving his goals on the regional, provincial and national level.  Its hoped his success will help grow our regional skills competition in the future, motivating others to participate and consider trades and technologies as a future career.”

The College of New Caledonia Trades and Technologies programs are already preparing to host the 2018 Skills Canada Central Interior Regional Skills Competition.
