Donation of a Jetstream 31 aircraft to the Aircraft Maintenance Engineering program by Swanberg Air
Northern Lights College is receiving and acknowledging the generous donation of a Jetstream 31 aircraft from Swanberg Air.
On Wednesday, June 26, the aircraft was moved from the Dawson Creek Regional Airport to the Hangar at the Dawson Creek Campus. Work started at 10 am, with the plane being moved from the end of the airport runway to 1st Street. Then, at 2 pm, the plane was transported along 116th Avenue, through the intersection with 8th Street to NLC, onto NLC grounds, and then into the Hangar compound.
On Friday, June 28, starting at 9 am, a special ceremony will be held in the AME hangar to recognize the donation by Swanberg Air, and the Swanberg family. The donation is being made in memory of Sylvan Swanberg, who died in 2011. Sylvan Swanberg was a former resident of Dawson Creek, an entrepreneur who was involved in several industries throughout the Peace Region dating back to the 1950s, and the founder, in 2000, of Swanberg Air. The aircraft being donated is the first Jetstream owned by Sylvan Swanberg.
Loran Swanberg, Sylvan’s son, will be on hand, representing the family.
