North Island College Wins 'Best Decorated Car' Prize in Canada Day Parade

NIC wowed spectators at the City of Courtenay's Canada Day Parade, winning the 'Best Decorated Car' category.

The recognition was in large part thanks to NIC student Debbie Price, who lent and drove her 1929 Ford Model A Roadster in the parade to represent the college.

Price bought the bright red, classic car and drove it home from Edmonton three years ago, arriving back on Vancouver Island in time for Canada Day.

Apart from a new engine, the fully-restored Roadster has all its original parts and interior and is an automatic.

"They're a hoot and just so much fun to drive," says Price, who enrolled in upgrading courses and is registered for the Applied Business Technology (Office Assistant) program this fall.

NIC staff and students also played a key role in making NIC's parade entry stand out. To see photos from the fun-filled day, head to our photo album on our Facebook page
