Students Put On The Fifth Annual SROAMazing Race In Nelson
Students in the Ski Resort Operations & Management Program are building up to the winter season with an annual event that challenges teams to race through Nelson's downtown in a fun-filled afternoon.
Gather your wildest group of friends, put on your costumes from failed Halloweens past, and come race, dance and eat your way to victory for prizes from some of the raddest ski and snowboard industry brands.
The 2016 Selkirk College Ski Resort Operations & Management Program (SROAM) class is hosting the fifth annual SROAMazing Race in downtown Nelson. Everyone in the community is invited to participate in the scavenger hunt madness—costumes are encouraged. The race goes down on October 17 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Nelson & District Youth Centre at 608 Lake Street.
Come out and use your super powers for victory, like these fine competitors from last year’s SROAMazing Race in Nelson.
“After participating in last year’s event, we’ve really been able to put together some great elements from that race, as well as put in our own unique spin to make it even better this year,” says the sponsorship team leader Kerr McEwen.
Help the SROAMies learn what it takes to run an event, while also raising money and awareness for Avalanche Awareness Beyond the Boundaries Society. Doors open at 12 p.m. and race starts at 1 p.m. sharp. Also included in the day is a barbeque, live music, prizing for the winning teams and the best dressed contest. Thanks to Whitewater Ski Resort, Big Red Cats, Planks and so many more for providing some of the radical prizing.
You can register early in person at Whitewater Ski Resort downtown office or Selkirk’s Tenth Street Campus (820 Tenth Street). If that’s not your thing, you can find the online registration form on the SROAMazing Race Facebook page.
Remember, your team of four only has one chance at awesome prizes, and a great time on October 17 at the Nelson District Youth Centre. Entry is $20 per four-person team. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact Kaid Macleod at email@example.com.
