What's New at BC Colleges, March 2015

A message from Jim Reed, President of BC Colleges

Welcome to the March edition of What’s New at BC Colleges. Around BC our colleges are collaborating with industry and developing relevant programming to ensure BC has the labour force with the right skills for the jobs in demand.

Last month BC’s colleges and the institutions that make up the BC Association of Institutes and Universities released a report by the Conference Board of Canada indicating that BC’s skills shortages and mismatches cost our economy up to $6 billion in forgone GDP and $785 million in provincial tax revenues annually. As a system, we are working on ways to address these predicted skill shortages and mismatches with our partners in industry and government.

A great example of this is Camosun College’s new Digital Marketing certificate program launching in September 2015. This new program will equip participants with leading-edge and applied training tools and techniques to effectively market a brand, service or product online.
