What's New at BC Colleges October 2015

Message from the President - Colin Ewart

Welcome to the October edition of “What’s New at BC Colleges”.

On Tuesday, Lane Trotter, President of Langara College, and I presented to the Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services (SSC) to discuss the multi-year priorities for the BC college sector. Many of our member colleges presented to the SSC during a series of province-wide public consultations held during the past two months. These presentations provided the Committee with a solid understanding of the current regional challenges and new opportunities facing BC’s colleges.

In response to 2016 Budget Consultation questions the BC Colleges' presentation focused on recommending ideas that involved innovative pilot projects and strategic investments intended to achieve better outcomes and system wide improvements.  A shared focus, after all, is how BC’s colleges can increasingly put British Columbians first in line for jobs and, in doing so, contribute to the local health, well-being and economic prosperity of our province. We achieve this through having over sixty (60) campus and learning center locations across all parts of the province.

The recommended strategic investments can be found in the complete newsletter -  BC Colleges What's New October 2015.
