The East Kootenay Career and Job Fair takes place this week, offering a valuable platform for individuals seeking new career opportunities, recent graduates entering the job market, those exploring summer employment or diverse career options, and for employers looking to hire new talent. This fair is organized by the College and Kootenay Employment Services.

Pursuing a skilled trade can lead to a rewarding career, full of growth, success and leadership opportunities. This is the message that Highstreet, a Kelowna-based real estate and development company, wants to share with students. Highstreet has donated $1 million to Okanagan College’s Trades and Apprenticeship programs. This gift will provide financial support to students starting an entry-level trades program. Thirteen annual bursaries of $6,500 will cover the full tuition costs with room for additional student expenses, such as textbooks or tools.

Eight Coast Mountain College (CMTN) students recently completed the Accelerated ECCE Certificate Program in Kitimat. All eight earned their Basic Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Certificate from the BC ECE Registry as well as an ECCE Certificate from CMTN, and now six have secured jobs in Kitimat daycares and two work at daycares in Terrace.
