Vancouver Community College hosts Flourish fundraiser for new Centre for Clean Energy and Automotive Innovation

Last month, Vancouver Community College (VCC) hosted 2025 Flourish, our annual fundraising experience in support of students.

The evening of food and wine celebrated all VCC has to offer the B.C. community. Food was made by alumni from VCC’s culinary department, which is Western Canada's largest culinary school. Attendees also had the opportunity to learn more about the college’s programs through interactive stations led by students and faculty who shared their experiences in working in hands-on environments, from VCC’s Salon and Spa, Transportation Trades, and Health Sciences.

This year Flourish had one key focus: raising money for the Centre for Clean Energy and Automotive Innovation (CCEAI), the catalyst project of VCC’s Campus Plan. The plan aims to propel the college into a new era of academic excellence, innovation, and community engagement through redeveloping the Broadway and Downtown campuses for a sustainable future.

The CCEAI, currently under construction, will offer programs in response to emerging workforce needs in the automotive and clean energy sectors, as well as technology and design. At present, one in 53 jobs in Metro Vancouver are already supported by VCC graduates. With space for 770 new full-time equivalent students, the CCEAI will increase this number even further by helping students secure jobs that support B.C.'s environmental goals.

VCC is delighted to announce it raised $239,000 at Flourish this year. Attendees heard from VCC’s President and CEO, Ajay Patel, about the inspiration behind the architecture of the new building. The CCEAI is based on campus Indigenization, inclusivity, accessibility, wellbeing, sustainability, collaborative opportunities, and strategic partnerships. By working with Indigenous experts, VCC has ensured these principles remain at the forefront of the college’s redevelopment.
