Our Impact
The role of BC’s public colleges is to provide British Columbians with affordable access to the essential and advanced skills education needed to fill the ever-changing requirements of in-demand jobs. And we’re clearly doing our job - over 90% of BC college students graduate and transition into the workforce within 6 months.
The BC college system has been in place for over 50 years and serves over 125,000 students annually. With campuses and learning centres in over 60 communities across BC, our network of colleges provides close-to-home education that is directly linked to employment or further education. We award over 13,000 credentials each year, and typically have 6,000 plus students transfer to continue their education at universities in British Columbia, across Canada, and overseas.
BC’s colleges focus on teaching excellence and delivering educational pathways to jobs. Students consistently rate their college education as highly satisfactory, with over 93% of students reporting high satisfaction scores regarding program relevance and value for money.
Colleges have a long, positive delivery track record and transparent performance reporting. Continued investment in BC’s colleges will help ensure post-secondary education opportunities are accessible and affordable, and that business labour market demand is met. The outcome will be a higher standard of living, reduced social costs, and vibrant and sustainable communities throughout BC.
