Partnerships: Strong Communities
Strong And Vibrant Communities in BC
BC’s colleges offer more than 250 different academic, trades, career, technical and skills programs in over 60 campuses and learning centres in every region of the province. This close-to-home learning is directly linked to the needs of BC’s labour market and students of all ages and backgrounds. The result? Greater student success, lower education costs, and strong, vibrant communities - since college graduates are more likely to stay and work where they’ve studied.
Government can help support regional prosperity through strategic and sustained funding to BC’s colleges, while businesses can partner with colleges to offer workplace training and co-op education placements. Public funding support will increase access and affordability especially for displaced workers, immigrants, indigenous learners and other underrepresented groups. Helping people get educated with the right skills will in turn maximize their workforce participation, and ultimately their personal health, and family wellbeing. Investing in a college education makes sense.
