Picture this: you’re a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) student, cruising through your program at College of the Rockies, when suddenly, bam! An opportunity of a lifetime knocks on your door. That’s exactly what happened to two stellar students, Amanjyot Sidhu and Lovleen Hayer. These future Florence Nightingales have been handpicked for the exclusive 2024-2025 COTR/Interior Health Perioperative BSN Learning Pathway at East Kootenay Regional Hospital.

The 2024 Prince Rupert Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards, held after a three-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, created a perfect platform for the CMTN Foundation to honour the achievements of five exceptional Coast Mountain College (CMTN) students with their award donors.

In a ceremony rich with respect and recognition, Vancouver Community College (VCC) welcomed members from the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations to hold a traditional ground blessing to honour the history of the land and prepare the campus for the construction of the new Centre for Clean Energy and Automotive Innovation (CCEAI).

BMO representatives joined OC staff and students to celebrate the major gift. A major gift from BMO will support community dental care while making it easier for more people to train to become in-demand Certified Dental Assistants (CDAs).

An otherworldly vibe of creativity permeated learning on Nelson’s Tenth Street Campus when both college and elementary school students got together for a Monster Party.

VCC Baking and Pastry Arts grad Ratanawan Choowatanakiat (Lily) was brand new to baking when, like many others around the world, COVID-19 put an end to her career as an airline cabin crew member.

The three Trades and Technical Program students went to Peru as part of a program with other participating post-secondary institutions to install solar panels in a remote Indigenous community. Rupert Love, Ivan Martinez Gonzalez and Jean-Samuel Bolduc went to work in Santa Rosa de Llillinta in February, marking the first time that NIC trade students have taken part in a field study program abroad.

The collaborative effort is part of the German Apprenticeship Training Exchange (GATE), a pioneering initiative fostering cross-cultural understanding and professional development within the trades and technology sectors.

In celebration of the National Day of Work-Integrated Learning, Langara College Co-op & Career Development is proud to name fourth-year business student Nitika as the 2023 Co-op Student of the Year.
