Greg Stone announced as new President of BC Colleges effective January 2, 2025
BC Colleges is delighted to announce that Dr. Greg Stone will serve as the new President of BC Colleges beginning January 2, 2025. Greg will be an asset in positioning colleges for success and he is excited to work with the BC Colleges team to ensure that our institutions, communities and learners across BC thrive through the affordable, accessible, and relevant education BC’s college system provides.
Greg takes over from Colin Ewart, who served in the role for the past nine years. BC Colleges thanks Colin for his dedication to drawing the college presidents together to make the post-secondary system stronger by embracing new ideas and a spirit of shared values and collaboration.

Most recently, he served as Executive Director of Strategic Policy and Initiatives with the BC Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills where he was responsible for a range of public-post-secondary sector issues, policies and initiatives. Prior to this, Greg was Executive Director of Curriculum and Assessment for the Province’s K-12 education system with the Ministry of Education and Child Care. Before joining the BC Public service, Greg led government, regulatory, Indigenous and community affairs for some of Canada’s largest corporations in the energy and resources sector of Western Canada.
Greg holds a Diploma of Criminology and Law Enforcement from Mount Royal College (now Mount Royal University), a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in History from the University of Calgary, a Master of Arts in History from McMaster, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Modern History from Oxford University.
Greg and his family reside in Victoria on the traditional territory of the lək̓ʷəŋən People, today known as the Esquimalt and Songhees Nations.
