NIC’s Write Here Readers Series Recommends Eating Dirt
NIC’s Write Here Readers Series is pleased to present Vancouver author and Campbell River’s Haig-Brown House witer in residence Charlotte Gill, at a free public reading this winter.
Gill will read from her memoir Eating Dirt and share photographs from her 17-year journey as a tree planter.
Eating Dirt vividly portrays Gill’s experiences but also follows tree planters through a year on the job, through bugs and bears, remote camps, and logging towns.
The book was nominated for the Hilary Weston Writers’ Trust Prize, the Charles Taylor Prize, and two B.C. Book Prizes. It won the 2012 B.C. National Award for Canadian Non-Fiction.
Don't miss Gill's reading at NIC’s Comox Valley campus in the Stan Hagen Theatre on Wednesday, January 30th at 7 pm and again in the Theatre at NIC’s Campbell River campus on Monday, February 25th at 12 noon.
Both readings are free to attend and open to the community.
