PACES Daycare to open new centre at NWCC Terrace campus
PACES Daycare Society has been selected to occupy the daycare space at Northwest Community College currently occupied by the Terrace and District Community Services Child Care Centre (TDCSS). PACES is expected to begin providing daycare services at the facility January 29, 2018.
TDCSS announced December 12, 2017 that it would be ceasing operations of the daycare effective Jan. 26, 2018.
Committed to maintaining the space for a daycare, NWCC entered into a public procurement process inviting expressions of interest from daycare providers in the greater Terrace area in an effort to ensure these services remained available to the community.
“We understand the importance of the availability of daycare spaces to our students, staff and the greater community,” said Ken Burt. “We are happy that in a very short time frame we were able to identify an experienced daycare provider that is committed to providing this service on campus.”
PACES is a non-profit daycare society, successfully offering daycare services in Terrace since 1992 and was the successful proponent. PACES will continue to operate programming out of its existing facility next to Caledonia Senior Secondary School in addition to the space at NWCC.
PACES Manager, Nancy Dumais says the society is working towards starting services as soon as possible in an effort to ensure that parents with children still enrolled at the daycare may receive continuity of care. Parents who are seeking information about space availability for their children should contact PACES Daycare Society.
