Langara Journalism Faculty and Graduates Nominated for 2019 Jack Webster Awards Tag: Langara College

Several Langara Journalism program instructors and alumni have been nominated for 2019 Jack Webster Awards recognizing excellence in BC journalism. Langara graduates always feature prominently at the Websters, and this year was no exception as 13 graduates and three faculty members received nominations. The finalists will be celebrated and the winner in each category announced at the November 7th awards dinner to be held at the Hyatt Regency, Vancouver.

Langara College Marks 49 Years on West 49th Ave. with Community Day Tag: Langara College

Langara College marked 49 years on West 49th Ave. on Saturday, June 15 with Community Day presented by RBC, a major celebration attended by thousands of students, alumni, faculty, and Vancouverites. The college also marks a second anniversary, 25 years of being an independent institution.

Two Langara College Students Recognized for Excellence in Work-Integrated Learning Tag: Langara College

Two Langara students were recognized for their outstanding academic and professional achievements by the Association for Co-operative Education and Work-Integrated Learning (ACE-WIL), BC/Yukon chapter. Lucy Morrow received the College Co-op Student of the Year Award, while Lara Griner received the College Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) Student of the Year.

Langara College Refreshes Brand to Integrate Musqueam Name Tag: Langara College

Langara College has launched its refreshed brand identity, incorporating the name snəw̓eyəɬ leləm̓given to it by the Musqueam people. The name snəw̓eyəɬ leləm̓ means ‘house of teachings’ in the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ language and was given to Langara in recognition of the growing relationship between the College and Musqueam, and Langara’s location on Musqueam unceded traditional territory.

Langara College Celebrates 25th Anniversary Tag: Langara College

Twenty-five years ago today, Langara College opened its doors as an independent public college. This year’s 25th anniversary is being marked as part of a much broader celebration, Beyond 49, the College’s 49th year on West 49th Ave. Beyond 49 is an 18-month integrated celebration, alumni engagement, and fundraising campaign which celebrates all that the College has achieved in its first 49 years.
